Other thoughts: getting involved in hetalia has taught me so much. The more I learn about Yao, the more I learn about myself. It’s quite surprising actually. There were lots of things that I thought were individual or family idiosyncrasies that I didn’t realized were actually Chinese because living overseas makes it confusing to tell what is Chinese and what is not. I had “eureka” moments when I realized that’s why I or my family did xyz. It’s quite amazing that my parents were born overseas but the cultural dna is still there and working (in both good and bad ways

I like Rome/Yao too mainly because of that Pixiv fanartist.
My mother lost mine somewhere, she's rather ditzy and we moved a lot when I was young. I also had this black bangle thing (unknown material) that was for some "spiritual protection" purpose but I don't know what that was about.I think my mother got it from some temple that blessed it.
