This may be the first thing I've really cared about in a while. I know not many people read this but those of you that do, please consider this very carefully.
Paramont Pictures is currently in the process of making a film based off of the hit Nickelodeon show Avatar: The Last Airbender. This show is based largely, if not entierly, on East Asian and Inuit cultures. However, the casting of the film has given the roles of the four main characters to white actors. While I believe that so long as the spirit of the chracter is captured well the ethnicity of the actor is not as important, this is a matter that goes deeper. It is a continuation of Hollywood "whitewashing" its films. I'm not so eloquent in speech so if you have ten minutes
here is someone who said it so well it got me to care about this matter Please, please read it. There is a
letter writing campaign to try and get this injustice wiped out once and for all. There are signs that it is working but
the recent development is still causing as many probelms as it's trying to solve. Please, if any of this bothers you at all I implore you to write a letter. It's not too late. I also strongly encourage people to boycott the movie. Although if you didn't even know about it you might not think to see it, you might have ended up seeing it if you didn't know about it and that would only encourage them to continue putting white actors in the roles of Asian characters.
