せしむる

Jan 31, 2012 19:28

Hi, i need a little help with an unknown word/verb.
A title from a 1906 newspaper: A fierce contest is going to begin.
And then:

陥落せしむるは   Aか Bか

I think a rough translation is: Who is going to fall? A? B?
But, what is exactly せしむる? Some old form of する? How can I translate correctly?
Thanks for your help.

It seems to be like させる. "Who will be forced to give up? A or B?"

I got my answer from here: dic.yahoo.co.jp/dsearch/0/0ss/110876500000/

Thank you very much for the link. Usually I use Edict or Weblio because they are in english. When the site is all in japanese, I feel a little scared. But this time the explanation is simple. I will start using Yahoo Japan also.
