Yoshimura Akira's historic novel "Sakuradamon no Ben" has been turned into a live-action film and today was the first preview screening at the Marunouchi TOEI theater in Yurakucho, Tokyo. The stage greeting was attended by the cast consisting of Osawa Takao (42), Hasegawa Kyoko (32), Watabe Gota (24), Bando Minsouke, Emoto Akira (61) and Kato Seishiro (9), as well as the director Sato Junya.
The story of the movie is leading up to the assassination of Ii Naosuke, one of the most influencing incidents that happened at the end of the Edo era. Osawa plays the protagonist Seki Tetsunosuke, Hasegawa his wife and Kato their son.
At the stage greeting the three of them really looked like a typical family of three, but the most eye-catching person on stage was Hasegawa with her gorgeous dress as white as the snow during one of the film's most memorable scenes.
Kato was standing right next to her and even at his age he was just as overwhelmed by her beauty as everyone else inside the theater. He felt really awkward and shy when reporters asked him about how he liked filming together with Hasegawa. At least he revealed that he had a lot of fun playing around with the sword.
