Grammy award-winning country-pop singer Taylor Swift touched down in Japan for the first time Sunday at Narita airport. As she came through the arrival terminal at 6 a.m. after an overnight flight from Australia, she was greeted by nearly 150 excited fans who had camped outside the terminal all night.
She greeted fans cheerfully and signed autographs, grinning widely when she received a card saying “Welcome to Japan, Congratulations on your Grammys!”
Swift, 20, was originally set to visit Japan last July, but the H1N1 outbreak delayed the songstress’ travel plans. She had been studying Japanese by herself for the visit, and put her skills to work chirping out, “Nippon daisuki! Domo arigato!”
Swift, who won the coveted Best Album of the Year Grammy for “Fearless,” will perform at Zepp Tokyo on Feb 17 in celebration of the release of her movie “Valentine’s Day.”
