Major suit manufacturer Aoyama Trading Co Ltd will put two new brands of ladies suits on sale Feb 18, just in time for job hunting university students and freshman employees. One brand, “Suits Me Imalu” was designed with input from popular “talent,” 20-year-old Imalu.

Designed around the concept of, “I do it my own way. Imalu,” the line breaks out of the normal ready-made mold with unique designs that work for both the business and casual look.

The other line, “Person’s Suit Style,” was designed for “stylish women living in the here-and-now,” and offers up a collection of three styles of jackets and skirts that can be sized individually instead of bought as a one-size set. The brand is hoping to hit sales around 900 billion yen next fiscal year.

Aoyama’s ladies suits only make up 5.4% of total sales, and company president Osamu Aoyama made a statement that, while the men’s business suit market is shrinking, “we have to jump in and fill the demand of the growing ladies suit market.” Which is why the company enlisted Imalu, he added.
