Shochiku has announced the fourth film in its so-called "animal series," which so far consists of "Quill," "Helen the Baby Fox," and "10 Promises to My Dog." The new movie is called "Kinako ~Yume wo Oikakeru Inu~" and will star young actress Kaho (18).

The film is based on Kinako, a real-life Labrador retriever in the Kagawa prefecture, being trained to become a police dog. The dog and its trainer are persevering towards that dream, despite having failed the exam five times already. Their story has been featured multiple times on television, such as on TBS's "Doubutsu Kisou Tengai!"

The movie's Kinako will be played by a similar Labrador retriever, while Kaho's character is modeled after the trainer. Yasufumi Terawaki, Miyoko Asada, Naho Toda, and Yusuke Yamamoto have also been cast.

Yoshinori Kobayashi is directing the film, which is scheduled for release next summer.
