Sony Computer Electronics Europe (SCEE) announced at its press conference at the gamescom event on Tuesday that it will release a new, less expensive PSP E-1000 for 99 Euros. There will also be a "range of PSP Essentials titles that will retail at only 9.99" Euros. The PSP E-1000, which will not have Wi-Fi, will be sold alongside the PlayStation Vita, PSP's designated successor, "across [the] PAL" region.
SCEE also announced that the PlayStation 3 console has been repriced at 249.99 Euros in Europe or US$249 in North America, effective immediately.

Update: The 160GB version of the PlayStation 3 will be 24,980 yen, US$249, or 249 Euros in their respective regions. The 320 version will be 29,980 yen, US$299, or 299 Euros. The special PlayStation 3 Tales of Xillia X Edition game bundle will have a new price of 32,980 yen to reflect the global price change.
