On August 15th actress Kitagawa Keiko and popular child actress Ashida Mana went to a studio in Tokyo to dub the movie version of “Magic Tree House”. This will be Kitagawa’s first time voice acting and she stated about Ashida Mana, “Mana-chan is such a sweet and lovely girl, when it comes to work she is so focused. I think it’s a bit rude to call her a child actress, I feel she is a professional actress.” It is Ashida’s second time voice acting and she replied with a big smile, “Oh that’s not true.”

Ashida is a big fan of the original animation, she commented on her role as Annie and the troubles of dubbing, “I like adventures. It was fun, since I think I’m a lot like Annie”, “Also, whenever I read ‘hooray’ in the script I would clap my hands together and they kept telling me not to do that.”

Kitagawa also expressed her thoughts on dubbing, “I’m usually in dramas where I can use my body (to act), so it was difficult for me to express things through my voice.”

Ashida answered a few questions from the press, the first question asked her where she would want to go if she had a Magic Tree House. Ashida’s eyes sparkled as she answered, “I want to go to a world that has mammoths and I want to try riding a mammoth. I also want to try eating mammoth meat”. She was also asked what her plans are for summer vacation, “I plan on going to the river and fishing for crayfish. I also like reading books, so I would like to read a book for everyone”.

“Magic Tree House” will hit theaters nationwide on January 7, 2012.
