Powerful singer Superfly will sing the theme song for the upcoming movie, “Smuggler - Omae no Mirai wo Hakobe“!

The song - tentatively titled “Ai wo Kurae” - was written just for the movie, which features actor Tsumabuki Satoshi as the lead. The story revolves around the main character, who becomes entangled with a shady company to help pay off his deep debt. Nagase Masatoshi, Matsuyuki Yasuko, Mitsushima Hikari, and Ando Masanobu will also make an appearance.

“They each live out their own righteousness and walk the paths they believe. The strength of their performances was overwhelming,” said Superfly about the movie. “I’d like to walk the path I believe, so we packed love - the only thing you have even if you turn away in this world and are laughed at - into the song. We made (‘Ai wo Kurae’) with those feelings in mind.”

Producer Yamaguchi Masatoshi also had a few words to say about the upcoming movie. “It’s an action film that makes you watch for the overwhelming, exhilarating feeling of relief that comes after the last 38 minutes. I felt that Superfly’s carefree, powerful vocals were appropriate for the lingering feeling at the end.” He continued, “It’s a fight song for the age, supporting those who surely take steps forward towards the future while getting over the past.”

Once Yamaguchi heard the song “Ai wo Kurae”, he had a burning desire to appoint her unreleased track “I My Me Mine Mine” to a role in the movie as well. The song will be used as an image song in the movie.

“Smuggler - Omae no Mirai wo Hakobe” hits theaters across Japan on October 22nd.
