Male Sought for Cutting Part of Pokemon Shirt Off Girl

Police in Yamagata City received a report from a father that a male suspect "who looked like a high school student" cut off part of the t-shirt of the father's six-year-old girl at around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The first-grade girl was playing next to her Yamagata home when the offense allegedly occurred. The girl was physically uninjured, and while the police view it as a possible prank, they are also investigating the incident as a possible assault case.

According to the police report, the girl was playing by herself when the male suspect appeared, riding a bicycle. The suspect then allegedly said, "I'm getting this as a souvenir" and cut off three images of Pokémon characters from the chest of the t-shirt with scissors or a similar object.

The suspect was reportedly in a group of two. The cut-off sections of the t-shirt each measured 10 centimeters (about four inches) wide. The suspect was wearing a red t-shirt and shorts. The Yamagata police have increased their patrols in response.
