On the official website for the movie “Ashita no Joe”, a regular woman working for the film’s distribution company, “Mika”, chronicles her attempt at following the diet plan used by the film’s stars, Yamashita Tomohisa and Iseya Yusuke.
In the film, Yamashita and Iseya play boxers, so they had to undergo a rigorous diet in order to get a boxer-like physique. Yamapi went from 62 kg to 53.5 kg with a 5% drop in body fat, while Iseya went from 67 kg to 57 kg with a 3-4% drop in body fat.
The same trainer who helped the two actors lose weight is now working with Mika to see if the diet will work for a woman. Her goal is to lose 5 kg in 3 weeks. So far, she is on day 19, having lost 1.55 kg. Although it looks like she won’t reach her goal, she wants to continue the diet past three weeks.
In the reports on the official website, Mika talks about her experience, and gives one diet tip a day:
Day 1: Be conscious of the happy feeling while exercising.
Day 2: Don’t eat sweets.
Day 3: When motivation for exercising is low, remember the adrenaline rush from before. Eventually, you will want to start exercising all by yourself.
Day 4: Don’t drink more than 1 L of water everyday.
Day 5: Don’t stop exercising just because you have muscle cramps.
Day 6: Walk for more than 20 minutes consecutively each day.
Day 7: Don’t try to suppress excessive hunger. If you’re hungry late at night, have a healthy snack.
Day 8: Weigh yourself morning and night. Record what you eat.
Day 9: Be aware of correct posture.
Day 10: Clench buttocks when walking.
Day 11: Look at yourself in the mirror everyday.
Day 12: Just move!
Day 13: Take deep breaths in the morning.
Day 14: Eat low calorie, low fat foods with plenty of fruit and vegetables. Spinach contains iron and will help prevent anemia.
Day 15: Eat broccoli (Yamapi ate broccoli almost everyday during his diet).
Day 16: Skip rope or do some other whole-body workout.
Day 17: Stretch!
Day 18: When you’re tired, move your body.
Day 19: The idea that you can eat as much as you want for breakfast and lunch is a myth. Eat healthy amounts for every meal.
