The popular book "Moshi Koukou Yakyuu no Joshi Manager ga Drucker no Management wo Yondara," commonly known as "Moshidora" for short, has just surpassed J. K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" to become the #1 bestseller in the history of Oricon's book sales rankings (started in April 2008).

Published in December 2009, the book initially ranked at #247, but word-of-mouth soon sent it skyrocketing to the top. It first entered the top ten in March 2010, and it climbed to #1 in June 2010. "Moshidora" ended up as the top-selling book in 2010 with actual sales of more than 1.2 million copies.

"Moshidora" has now appeared in the weekly Oricon rankings 56 times, and it is still charting at #6 this past week with an estimated 27,000 copies sold. This puts the book's total sales at close to 1,797,000, barely surpassing the 1,795,000 sold by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

The story of "Moshidora" revolves around Minami Kawashima, the female manager of a high school baseball team. Aiming to improve her management skills, she mistakenly buys "Management: Tasks, Responsibilities, Practices" by the late management guru Peter Drucker. Using Drucker's advice, she aims to guide the team to reaching the coveted Koshien tournament.

"Moshidora" currently has a manga adaptation that has been serialized since December, and an anime adaptation is scheduled to start airing in March. It has also been announced that AKB48 member Atsuko Maeda is starring in a live-action film adaptation that will open this June.
