The fashion-themed movie "Runway Beat" will be partially shown in 3D, it has been announced. During a preview event held on Tuesday, director Kentaro Otani revealed that the film's climactic fashion show scene was done in 3D.
Otani said, "When it comes to 3D, there's a strong image of action and science fiction, but it's perfect for fashion shows as well. It's not interesting if it's not live. When you feel like you're standing there, you also become more attached to the characters."
"Runway Beat" is based on a popular mobile phone novel by Maha Harada about a transfer student with a natural gift for design who manages to pull his class together for the school festival's fashion show. It was announced last summer that Koji Seto, Nanami Sakuraba, Mirei Kiritani, Kei Tanaka, and IMALU would play the main characters.
The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on March 19.
