On January 9th, the all female Visual Kei rock band, exist†trace, announced that they would be making their major debut during the summer with a solo live in Tokyo’s Shibuya BOXX.
As a “girls only” group, they are truly unique in the world of Visual Kei. But that doesn’t mean that they plan to rely on that fact alone. Their vocalist, Jyou, promised fans that they would aim for new heights, as she said, “We’re changing our field of activity to the Majors, and we’ve decided to keep advancing! It looks like we’ve still got a long road ahead of us!”
For those of you aren’t familiar with this group, they were formed back in June 2003, and are comprised of Jyou, guitarists Omi and Miko, bassist Naoto, and drummer Mally. Running with their concept of “traces of existence“, the band’s created a formidable sound that’s left them untouchable in the male-dominated Visual Kei realm. They successfully held a ‘one-man tour’ in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, and even performed in Europe last April.
Recently, the girls hosted a live titled, “19′z Premium Party.02~Mayoi no Nai Ketsudan no Saki e~(A decision towards our future without hesitation).” Centered around their new song and latest album, “Twin Gate“, the group played 21 songs overall and incited a head-banging storm throughout the concert hall.
At the event, Jyou expressed her feelings about reaching a major debut, “The 5 of us have laughed together, had fights together, and continued to walk together even when we felt like stopping from hesitation.” Reflecting on their past, Jyou continued, “We want to show the proof of our existence, exist†trace’s music, to a lot more people!” She raised her fist to the air as she promised to tell details of which label and when their major debut single would be released at a later date.
exist†trace will be performing at “IRON ANGEL LIVE” at CLUB SEATE in Kichijoji, Tokyo on the 23rd. In April, they will be guests at America’s Anime Convention in Seattle, the “Sakura-Con” - this will be their first performance in America.
