Beyonce and co taking credit of other peoples' stuff? I'm not surprised. I don't hate Beyonce, I'm a fan of her music, but some of her and her crew's practices when it comes to crediting and royalties is just too dodgy for me.
Sounds like the animation company will have to prove that the licence was unauthorised. I don't think Sony, being a long-established big player in the entertainment industry, would allow such a matter to slip through.
ugh it's b-wutever-say and co. that has to provide proof of copyright authorization, not the other way around. you can't prove a negative.. ever taken discrete mathematics? think
I wish to clarify for the person who replied to this under a screened comment (hence I cannot reply to that person). Example: If I were the animation company owner, I would make sure that the party which licensed my works to the downstream party, in this case, Sony, had the right to do so in the first place. If they did not not, or if they had only limited rights to license onward, then I may have a case to take up. Of course, Sony would simply turn around and point their finger at the company in the middle, which licensed the content onward to them. The lawyers would have a nice job here. This situation being primarily commercial in nature, the best scenario would be an out-of-court settlement to rectify shortfalls, if any, in license fees.
Bad move from Beyonce, I will not believe an explanation that she doesn't know anything. It's a bit like Ivy the korean singer who had a PV that was a copy of a scene from FF VII.
