Comedian Matsumoto Hitoshi to direct another movie

Oct 18, 2010 00:33

Comedian Matsumoto Hitoshi announced on the October 16th episode of “Professional Shigoto no Ryuugi” that he will be directing a new movie.

The film will star ordinary citizen Nomi Takaaki, who works at a izakaya (Japanese tapas bar), but has guested in Matsumoto’s late-night variety shows “Hataraku Ossan Ningyou” and “Hataraku Ossan Gekijou“.

When asked for the reason behind the casting, Matsumoto revealed, “I believe that the funniest person in the world could be the unfunniest person at the same time. Nomi is funny because there is no person as unfunny as he is.”

Matsumoto has directed and starred in two movies, “Dainipponjin (大日本人)” (2007) and “Symbol (しんぼる)” (2009). The title and the release date for his new work have not yet been revealed.
