..what the fuck has this country came to? Let me say this as clearly, and as straight to the point as I possibly can.

I HATE FOX NEWS.

John Loftus, a former U.S. prosecutor, decided it was his "civic duty" to go on Fox on August 7th, and say on air, on live televison that the home of two average suburbians as a "terrorist lair". As a result of the broadcast, the residents are scared for their lives (as the should be), that someone who has not seen Fox's retraction may bomb, grenade, or otherwise destroy their home, or the people living in it.

Has this country gone so nuts over terrorism that we need to revisit our past, pulling out a Vietnam-style war against a country just for the kicks of it? Do we feel the need to start hurding up people of a certain race or faith into prison camps like Nazi Germany or the US circa WWII (specifically, the Japanese)? So this guy, who has no access to information about terrorists other than his own mind's judgements, can walk right onto national television, declare some people in a town far away, that he's never met, as terrorists, and not invite as much as a pinprick in punishment?

Personally, I hope someone does attempt to do something to that home, but I hope nobody gets hurt. I think if something does happen we need to hold Fox as directly responsible for the act, and the FCC needs to do something about them. Hell, I'd rather listen to Howard Stern all day than hear about some poor folks scared to leave their home for fear of sniper fire from some anti-terrorist nationalist army. It just invites all kinds of creepy things from our past to come right back.

If I were in the shoes of that family, Fox News would be facing the biggest lawsuit in their history. Dealing with people spraypainting the house, coming by and taking pictures with high-powered photography equipment, people posting satellite photos of their house and directions to it online, people driving by shouting "terrorist".. I'd hire the best lawyer I could afford, put the house up for collateral, and wait for the settlement. And I know I wouldn't walk away from it anything less than a millionairre.
