A Man Of His Word

OPEN: JANUS FILE #0081

I have heard or read news stories about people doing some pretty stupid things. I have heard stories about people who have committed, as I like to put it, stupidity above and beyond the call of duty. Every once in a while, though, I hear about someone who pushes the stupidity envelope past what I would have thought possible.

I read about someone who fits that last category last month. He was a Welsh rugby fan, and he was sitting in a bar with some friends, preparing to watch Wales take on England in a match. This was a home game for Wales, and unfortunately, they had not beaten England at home for 12 years.

The Welsh fan (whose name will not be mentioned here because he really deserves a degree of anonymity) was convinced that Wales would lose once again. He was so convinced that his team would lose that he declared that he would cut off his testicles if Wales did happen to win.

I think you can guess the outcome of the game. Wales won, 11-9, and as I said, it was their first home victory over England in 12 years.

To his credit, the Welsh fan was a man of his word. He went home, cut off his testicles with a knife, then went back to the bar to show everyone what he had done.

This guy is too stupid even for the Darwin Awards.
