when we went to bourbon street, my aunt sang this at karaoke, and it was really beautiful and struck me as sort of philosophical in the sense that it applies to me, or at least one of the trillion reflective shards that compromise what I think I am. Plus I love my aunt to death and I always see bits of myself in her anyways.
'...and I saw my reflection in a snow-covered hill, but the landslide brought me down.
Mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child in my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tide
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Well, Ive been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you.
But time makes you bolder,
Children get older
And I'm getting older, too.'
What does it all mean? I think it means a lot of things to me. As part of my getting older, I think I've learned to leave some of the philosophy behind the words... besides, the people who really care either already know or will ask anyway. I think I'm going to try to start writing again. :)
