new commemorative LJ icon
The photo was taken in 1970 at the ceremony marking the official completion of the I-80 through Pennsylvania. There's another sign in the photo showing the mileage east to New York City, but it's not shown clearly so I cropped it. The mileage is only a mere 22 miles more than the distance to San Francisco from Buffalo, and the route I have to take is almost entirely I-80 from Cleveland straight to the Bay Bridge. So overall, I think this icon serves us well.
As you can tell, I get just about as excited by highway signage as I do over mass transit.
