YAY! good sandwiches, but thats not the point...
had the first java class last night, it turns out its in a government building, so before about 6:10 its next to impossible to get in. i walked in the front door and one of the guards immediately stepped in front of me and asked why i was there, it was freaky, so im like "um...im here for a class" and he backs off but keeps eyeing me like im gonna bomb the place or something. then on top of that to get in you have to sign, give a reason, be questioned, show government issued photo ID, show another photo ID, then they let you in. and o, lucky me, i didnt bring ID. of any kind. they got angry and kicked me out. then at 6 all the students started arriving and the guard changed and it went from having to endlessly identify yourself and be questioned to "sign there, put down time, and go on in"
the class was fun too. got great stuff like "java: write once run everywhere. in reality, java: write once debug everywhere" and i can see the point too. if you make a mistake in capitalization it wont compile. it must be so incredibly perfect, and java is so picky about some things. the ultimate in irony, the entire java help and info section on sun's website is all compiled, written, and created by java. XD. you know there has to be something to a language when it can write its own help section dynamically.
there we three guys in the class that work for macromedia, these guys so rule (they give out some free registration codes even tho they're really not supposed to. and they know all the loopholes in the programs they write XD) but when the teacher (who has doctorates in both computer science AND english btw) asked who was using a mac, the first hands to shoot up were mine, the two other guys working with flash and graphics, and the three guys from macromedia. macs rule, i rest my case. and macromedia agrees with me.
so today was first day of summer school. lorna sturgeon is so cool! if only she actually taught here, maybe then i wouldnt have been stuck with nowell.....we have to do book work (cause the course requires) so she like "well, we have to do this cause they say i have to teach it, but i think its pointless. so....ok, turn to this page. see that diagram? copy that onto a piece of paper and turn it in. yes, you can copy it exactly" she makes so many great quotes, like "guys, youll develop large pectoral shapes on your bodies if you do it properly, girls, dont worry about getting muscles because its extremely hard to do, youll just become firm to the touch" it took forever to find class tho, summer school admin is so disorganized.
as for science...uhg. i know more than the teacher, and its 2 and a half hours long, so im gonna need to seriously show off and answer everything with really complex answers to keep myself entertained. it means im going to be quite kent* during the second half of
the day. ok, long enough i suppose and i need to work on my drivers ed (yay for online courses).
*liff word, politely determined not to help despite a violent urge to the contrary.
