ok good.. I just talked to Peggy and they are preparing to evacuate. *sigh of relief* She said it is getting somewhat.. ummm don't know the word for it. A lot of the gas stations are out of gas, there are VERY long lines at the stations that still have gas, 7 hours to drive 45 miles on the interstate, all interstate lanes are now north bound only, no hotel/motel rooms available in San Antonio, Austin, etc. They are going further north. They will be leaving at around 1am because the 2nd schedule of evacuation for south Houston will begin at 2am. She also said it was horribly hot there now too. I just hope that all of my other good friends also decide to evacuate. The experts are saying that if Rita hits Galveston dead-eye, it will travel up I-45 - even Dallas will feel the effects of the hurricane. Needless to say - I will be glued to the T.V. all weekend!
Well, glued as much as I can... we'll have Zach for the weekend! I talked to Anna this morning when she called me at work. I'm glad that I was able to tell her Happy Birthday. :)
I've been working on the sex offender's list for the past several weeks. The officers have researched and updated/confirmed addresses as much as they possibly could. There are so many holes in this particular system but I honestly don't know what all we can do to correct it. I am, however, going to make them show proof of residency. But, if an offender moves into the county and has not notified us or the county they have left - we really have no way of knowing that they are here (unless someone rats them out or they are arrested for something, etc.) My brother, Steve is working on setting up a website for the sheriff's dept. Once he gets it set up, I will take it over and will put the information on the site. It will take some time, but I think it will end up being a nice website :) I'm going to have information pages on it too (besides the sex offenders).
ok, gotta' go... Lost is on tonight! =)
God's speed, Peggy... ove ou!
