Characters: Captain Kirk, Spock, Bones McCoy, Uhura, Sky
Disclaimer: I own nothing related to Star Trek except my tricorder, model Enterprise and Vulcan ears :)
Author Notes: Just a fun idea the Trekkie in me had. The reason that Sky is the only one in this fic is because I'm really the only Trekkie in the NFA. I mean, sure everyone else(at least I think)has seen the new Star Trek movie but I'm the only one to have seen almost every episode of The Original Series, TNG and Enterprise. I've loved Star Trek ever since I first read an old book my mother had from her college days. Live Long and Prosper!!!
~..~
It was a normal day aboard the USS Enterprise. Crewmembers went about their daily tasks, bored nearly out of their skulls. Nothing had happened for ages and even the recent shore leave had been exceedingly boring. Only the scientists in the crew had been interested in the last planet because of a rare mineral found in its core.
Captain James T Kirk sat in his chair on the bridge and sipped a cup of coffee brought to him by Lieutenant Rand. As he drank it he watched her move around the bridge and wondered how her hair managed to stay in one position at all times.
Suddenly, a bright light flashed in front of the view screen and the shape of a young woman appeared. Kirk sat up straighter in his chair as the brunette looked around with a wide smile.
"Oh good, I made it."
The red-shirted security guard moved towards her, but Kirk held up a hand. "Hello. I'm Captain James T Kirk-"
"-of the Starship Enterprise, yes I know. Nice to meet you. Name's Sky."
Kirk stood and walked over to the young woman. "Pleased to meet you, Sky. Can I ask what you're doing on my ship?"
"Oh, you know, checking out the future and seeing if Mr. Roddenberry got it at all right. I'll be gone soon, don't worry."
"Ah, well don't feel that you have to hurry away or anything."
She smirked. "Well, what do you know! The stories are true. You really will flirt with any girl you see."
"I've noticed the same thing, Ma'am," came a Southern drawl from the side. "A bit annoying at times, I'll admit."
"Oh, come on, Bones, I'm not that bad...am I? Spock?"
"Most definitely," the Vulcan replied seriously, looking up from where he was scanning Sky with his tricorder. "I have observed that you attempt to engage emotional or physical contact with any humanoid female we encounter."
Uhura's snicker carried clearly across the bridge.
Sky winked at the communications officer then turned her attention back to a scowling Kirk. "Thanks, Spock. Now, don't feel bad, Captain, you're not the only person to do this. In fact I know a guy who does the exact same thing but with the males of species too. He's even another Captain."
"Uh-huh. Well, that's all well and good for him but I think you should leave now."
"Oh, certainly, Kirk, whatever you like. But first I'd like to test a little hypothesis I've heard."
"And what is that?"
"Well, the idea is that the reason you end up with so many women is because you're an amazing kisser. I'd like to test that if you don't mind."
In the silence that followed, the soft buzzing of the force field that kept Rand's hair aloft could easily be heard.
Finally Spock broke the silence. "I believe her hypothesis is sound. You should attempt it, Captain, for science."
"Thank you, Spock, for that insight," Kirk muttered. He glanced around the bridge at the expectant faces and sighed. "Fine. I'll do it."
Sky smiled and stepped closer to him. "Thank you, Captain."
He looked uneasily at the grinning young woman and slowly leaned forward. Just as he was about to press his lips to hers a loud ringing broke the relative silence and he stumbled back. "What the heck is that?!"
The young woman pulled a small device from her pocket and pressed a button on it before placing one end against her ear. "Hello? Oh hi, Jim. No, I'm not busy. Just testing out that little hypothesis I told you about. Don't worry I'll come straight back when I'm done. Yes, sweetheart, if he tries anything I'll knee him like I did to Jack that one time. Uh-huh. I love you too. See you tonight." She pressed another button on the device and replaced it in a pocket. "So...where were we?"
Kirk stared at her and took a step back. "What was that?"
"Oh, nothing. Shall we get on with it?"
"I..."
"You did say you would. One kiss and then I'll go."
Kirk stepped towards her and frowned. "Alright. One kiss and then you promise to leave?"
"I promise."
The starship captain leaned down and gently pressed his lips to the young woman's, pulling back a few moments later to see her regarding him speculatively. "What?"
"Oh, nothing. It's just...from all the episodes I saw; you were always a little more...what's the word? Oh, yes. Passionate. Who knows, maybe that was just Shatner. Anyway, thanks for that, Captain. Now I know for a fact what my hypothesis is now."
"And that is?" he asked nervously.
"That all the girls who fell for you didn't do so because of your kissing. See you another time." She pressed a button a device strapped to her wrist and faded away.
Captain James T Kirk slowly made his way over to his chair and sat down heavily. "What a day."
"I'll say," McCoy said cheerfully. "It's not every day you get told your kissing is bad. Amazing if you ask me!"
Kirk glared at him. Thanks for that, Bones. Spock, any thoughts on what just happened?"
"Fascinating, Captain. Completely fascinating."
