Got up this morning feeling pretty good, passed the Ankle Check (all green lights), weighed for the first time in a few days -- down a bit, total now 27.3lbs/12.4 kilos lost.

I demonstrated to myself -- again -- how the body sends out smoke signals when it needs material. Two days ago, hit another one of those "I'm eating, but I'm always, always hungry" potholes. I was already eating a reasonable assortment of food, wasn't leaving anything out, including plenty of protein.

So man, I just ate more. Esp. for breakfast. One morning I had leftover broiled salmon scrambled with two eggs. Brilliant! No-rice no-curry kedgeree? Anyway. It was delicious. Yesterday I had a huuuuuuuuuuuuge breakfast. I'm not kidding. A tostada shell -- flat crispy corn tortilla -- with a layer of refried beans and melted cheese, topped with two scrambled eggs and picante sauce. OMG YUM.

Then this morning I lost, what? 1.5 lbs?

So my body wasn't getting enough fuel, and when I paid ATTENTION to that message, my body said, Yeah, woman, bring it on.

On that note, I've purchased Intuitive Eating, and have been taking a look. Nowhere near finished, but in general the idea of being attuned to your body to know what it needs -- from food to exercise to medicine -- holds a strong appeal. Anyone else read this? I will report more when I've finished it, but the concept very much intrigues me.

Anyway. I'm not losing weight fast, but I am losing weight -- according to Fitday, averaging 2.77/wk, but that weird 20-lbs-first-month thing has screwed up all my averages -- and along the way I'm learning some interesting lessons. Now to clean out some stuff from the fridge, and go get groceries.
