I'm over the moon over Hybrid lately, and completely obsessed with
Formula of Fear, which I think appeared in one of its remix states in some car movie. If you're familiar with that version, I think it's the Hybrid remix. But the original version? Woooooooooooowwww.
I don't even BOTHER to transcribe lyrics very often, but I couldn't find these, and honestly, there are multiple places where I just can't quite make out what she's singing. The segment that really, really caught my ear was this --
living in a stranger's daze (days?)
a picture in a different frame
you only hear me when you're miles and miles away
silently you fall away
silently you fall away from me
It just seems like a very, very Sam song to me. From the driving beat of the original -- and the far lower-key armchair remix -- it sounds like HIM to me, and esp. wrt to Dean. I mean, here's the thing -- we all talk about how often Sam has left Dean, and he just did it again....
Or did he? I mean, in a literal sense, yes, but where Dean has been -- well, Sam hasn't, could not, at least not easily or temporarily, arguably. And I think ever since Dean met Castiel (at least knew he was meeting him) there could be a case made for Dean being far, far away from Sam in a lot of ways. It isn't only Sam being far from DEAN, you know?
So "You only hear me when you're miles and miles away" -- who's talking about whom here? Really?
I suppose a case could be made for Dean here, too, but in a way THIS song just...feels like SAM to me. The sound of it, the beat of it, and that darkness in Charlotte's voice. It's a fucking amazing song, and it cries out to be Sam's.
Armchair Remix Because I'm an old and loyal Juno Reactor fan, which I think this sounds like -- the
Hybrid Remix (And if you knew how many times I had to try to get my recalcitrant DSL router to stay connected long enough to upload these -- well. You would know just how much I wanted to share this music.)
