Couple addendum-type thoughts.

Two main things rattling around in the brainpan -- Dean, and the boss.

I think one problem for me this season -- and it's a big one for me -- has to do with Dean's characterization. Now I'm not going to carp about the deal and so on; enough's been said there. I'm missing this season the glimpses deep into Dean's psyche that we got last season. I can deal with having no equivalent of IMToD this season (so far), but I feel that comparatively speaking we're getting by and large a less internal view of Dean -- and although the circumstances are different, granted, I feel as if Dean's FAR more opaque now.

Mind you, we're getting some downright fascinating insight into Sam (and some growing questions, all welcome). I think it's about time we focused on him at least to the extent that we did Dean last season, watch his character grow and progress. And I'm not suggesting Dean hasn't had a few interesting moments -- he certainly has. But overall, compared to last season, this Dean is...not at all a cipher, not that extreme. But although we can see from last week's episode that he IS of course thinking about the deal, his fate in a few months, and so on, there's just...something of a distance there that I regret. Can't explain any better than that.

The boss. I haven't read ALL the ep commentary by any means, but I'm deeply curious about the crossroads demon's boss. Lucifer, again? Or something/someone else? She would not or could not give his name. So basically the demons like the Sandy-demon are sales personnel, marketing folks, and the big cheese is behind the scenes -- you shake hands with the salesman and work out the fine tuning, but when you sign the contract it's with the head honcho, not any particular demon underling.

I can certainly see why they'd want Dean -- regardless of special powerz, he's scragged his share of demons (although Sammy looks poised to pass him up in that area soon), etc., etc. So who is the masked man demon big cheese? THE big cheese, CEO, or like a VP, COO or something?

Argh. I miss our Dean-tears. I'm starting to think that Dean burned out a bit during AHBL, and he really IS resigned -- and I don't like that feeling, but I...need to see more. Want to KNOW more.
