Blast from the past

I'm going through all these cassettes as part of this ripping project, right? And I come across all these mixes I made ages upon ages ago. So much stuff I'd forgotten all about, and some of it's godawful and some's great. I TOTALLY forgot how much I loved OMD back in the day. Heee ( Read more... )

Yeah, I love old mixed tapes! Most of mine are in really bad shape, audio-wise, but I sometimes listen to them in the tape player in my car. I have to pass along your instructions for ripping tapes to CD to my mom--my stepfather's a musician, and he has just decades worth of cassettes.

*squints at your icon* That looks like River Phoenix? Is that from The Body? Sure looks like it. Will Wheaton?

Yeah, I have a shitload of tapes. ::sigh:: I mean, I'll only take the time to rip the stuff that's really irreplaceable -- my concerts, live things, that sort of stuff. Like the OMD, I can get that still. But man, is it good to know how to transfer those tapes that are totally nowhere else. *whew* I'm glad it'll be helpful for you and yours!

Yes, the icon is from Stand By Me. I bought myself the special edition DVD this past weekend and regressed to my middle school woobie-boy loves.

Gack, I meant Stand By Me. Um. Reverted to the King title. *g* I loved that movie. The most successful movie version of any of his work, I think. They were such woobie babies then.... (um, and you know, RP was ALIVE *sigh*)

Isn't it great? I mean, I was so pop-py back then. Now it's all Disturbed and shit. But I love that band.

Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, eh? :) Ah the eighties, nothing like it. So funny I was such a new wave girl but after that I became total rocker girl and I'm still there to today. :D

Hi Em, a random lurker surfing through (i like to click on the links my friends put on their LJ). I loved your CSI fic.

curious - what program are you using to rip the tapes to CD? That's on my list of things to do & I haven't figured out which programs to use yet. I've got monster cables to hook a small stereo into the CPU at least.

and yes OMD totally rocked. Love my 80s music, alas, many faves are on cassette or on melted vinyl (melted in the attic) and were never released on CD.

I agree about your Millenium/Supernatural thoughts a few posts back as well. Liked Millenium a lot, thought it would have made a good Buffy/Angel crossover as well.
