In the calm before the storm

The national Press Conference starts at 9:45 downtown to be presented by all the big wigs, which does not include yours truly. I have prepared all that I can prepare, including last second maps and data. The Assessment is ready to upload and make public at 9:45. There will be followup press phone calls, etc. but the worst of the manic rush may be over.

Now all I have to do is train my replacement on everything I do; upload all of the files I have on my pc to our common drive so the poor guy can have access after getting rid of extraneous and duplicated information; finish dealing with filing the paper files that are seriously cluttering my desk; make another run through the file cabinet because they are playing musical offices after I'm gone and the files will need to be moved. And everything else I haven't thought about yet.

My retirement party is March 25th. Seeing the poster has made it more real somehow. But the last minute stress has really taken a toll. I suspect that I might have avoided the UTI if I had been in a calmer state. When I'm cranky I fuss that I should be coming in late and leaving early like a normal near retiree. Not working extra hours. But I will get it all done before I'm gone so I can go with a clear conscious. Only 2 more Mondays to survive.

I really am looking forward to not fretting about people coming over. I haven't been home much over the past couple of weeks, and when I have been I've been too zapped to do much. Rorik is disabled with his right arm immobilized and too much activity making it really hurt. G#2 is spending forever at work and G#1 is dealing with a limitation of spoons. I have no idea where the Steampunkers are going to set up tonight to do the crafting. This could get ugly. The odds are very much against me being able to get out of here early today. I ought to take pictures so that I can look back and see just how bad it was and appreciate the progress I have made.

Well, Bossboss just sailed out the door, and a question just came in through email that I need to clear through Boss, so back to the grind stone.

home, work, retirement, cleaning, nha
