So there I was, industriously working my way through the world's largest pile of clean laundry, and dumped another load in to wash. A really possible goal is to get everything clean and put away.
Load that had been in washer when I woke up (G#2's load - yeah! he does his own) in dryer, and next one in washer. I am nearly done with the folding/handing part of the stuff in the pile, when the dryer buzzes - good timing. Then I realize, no sound from washer for a while. Look in - full of water and no motion on dial. Poke at buttons - no joy. Resist panic. Announce the lack of joy to the guys.
We were planning on starting the research into new washer/dryer this month, with an eye to seeing how much money is left at the end of the month (18 months of fiscal responsibility has been paying off, figuratively and literally). I DON'T WANT TO MAKE DEBT! G#2 said he had problems last night, and went up to try to intimidate it into working. I had barely started up the stairs when I heard the wonderful noise of swishing water. Sort of like jiggling the handle, he had to change load size, re-start, and change back. I hope the trick keeps working for a few more loads so I can get everything cleaned up.
So now, instead of digging into the great pile of unknown stuff in the bedroom corner, we'll be researching and running about to check prices. THEN have to clear the hall and laundry room to make room for the swap of machines. Yes, plural because the dryer is on it's last legs too.
Again - joy.
