I've decided that I know what is wrong with this world we live in. well, valpo (and its inhabitants) specifically. our problems consist of getting dates, problems with teachers, and which college to attend. sometimes I forget that there are people living in the world whose problems are getting food for the day, finding shelter for their family, and whether they will survive another winter without heat. to us our problems seem very important and life threatening, but putting it into a wider perspective makes them seem very insignificant.

my friend from girls state (stephanie) sent me a christmas card that arrived today. she and her family are in the small and very poor village of Tonateni in Namibia for christmas break. every day they get up and work on fixing up shelters and passing out food for kids. some of the kids hug and kiss her and her family just for handing them a piece of fruit. here's one of the pics she sent me. ask if you want to see more. it just reminded me of what christmas is really about.
