Okay, this be the first part of the metaing I spent the afternoon doing. Well, Kant broke my head for most of the morning. I also re-watched both the episodes and I am seriously, seriously getting worse. Last time I watched Do No Harm I started sobbing at the end, now I started in the middle. Whaatever. Ha, no no, I think you can't take Kate out of J/S either, which is half of the reason why J/S for me is difficult to write. I either have to ignore her and it isn't fair, or whatever I think about it's already been done a thousand times. Also I have to say that the point with J/S isn't so much canon as much as... well, it's kind of the same thing as what you said re Sawyer's story in your meta. In the sense that Sawyer's story isn't original and has been done a thousand times, but it works nonetheless. And J/S is actually one of the few slash pairings in Lost if not the only which is perfectly compliant with most of the slash clichés that were around since slash existed. In the sense, that having two guys who are supposed to hate each other being attracted to each other is the A of the slash ABC, having them being in love with the same woman is the B and having them being close as friends before is the C. Canon or not canon, Jack and Sawyer are A and B and while saying they're close friends would be ridiculous, at times they've been ( ... )
