This is such a great opening. There are so many good character moments for us to get reacquinted with this world and these folks. I forgot to say in my other comments how this reminded me a bit of the Gunslinger, with the walking and the arrival in dusty towns. And of course, Arzt fills in as pissy man in black! And I still damn his bed bugs for not allowing clothes to be shed and his two beds that discouraged any forced snuggling! The musical choices are so fitting, especially the last one with the shoe joke and the reference to red ruby lips, because who are they going to see next afterall.

I should be able to work on the next two parts tonight or on my commute tomorrow.

You know, I hadn't thought about that, but I'm always one for involuntary King references, even if I'd take the other man in black over Arzt any second! ;) Seriously, thank you so much. And don't worry, part six has bed sharing without fleas and there's also kind of involuntary snuggling, even if I was surprised by the circumstances myself. Thank you so much, I'm really glad you're liking this (even if you're ahead)!

Oh, that'd be perfect, thanks again!

I love this so much. The opening is great - you get a sense of the place, the dirt everywhere, the poverty, but also the need to go on, to keep on moving, and this sense of solidarity between people - they're all in the same boat, just trying to survive and things that used to have a lot of meaning before the crisis are meaningless now. It's about the small things: a pair of shoes, better trousers and a little companionship to make days a little brighter.

Can't wait to read the next chapter!

Oh, I'm really, really so glad you liked this. Well, I know how you liked the other one so I just hoped this would at least start on par. Here it was just trying to set things up better (also because I had the time and space), I'm really happy this worked for you here (and that all that came across because I was aiming for it. Or something.) Thanks again! ♥

Next chapter should be up tomorrow ;)

Wonderful! I'll be plowing through this a bit today, even though I should be *ahem* working. Aw, Jack and Sawyer got a ride with Steve and Scott. Or Scott and Steve!
But I do love the way you've captured the atmosphere. It's really great!

Work is overrated much? ;) Thanks so much, glad you liked it! And ha, everyone wants a ride with Scott and Steve. Right?

Glad you liked the atmosphere here, I guess I did my research well: ♥ Thanks again!
