I read this on Saturday, at work, and it got me a little teary. I'm a complete sucker for Clementine stories, especially stories like this, where you get to see the conflict from both sides. Does Sawyer have the right to interrupt Clementine's life with a letter? What if things had gone a different way? What if she's never wanted to admit, least of all to herself, how badly she wants to know about her father, to hear from him?

I love that you included Walt here. It's such a tragedy that he went back to the island only to find that Michael was dead. Those two never got to connect - I get the feeling that Michael really screwed up there, that he had that opportunity, but then he did the things he did and decided to share his guilt with Walt. In a way, who better to understand both Sawyer and Clementine than Walt, he who was estranged from his father, who learned the hard way you should never, ever back away from that sort of family relationship? I think he knows how important it'd be for Clementine to hear from her father and I think he has this instinctual feeling of how important it is for fathers to make amends with children they've left behind.

I really love the concept of Sawyer and Clementine, these two people who don't really know each other, but who so badly and reluctantly want to connect.

Really loved this. Thank you for sharing!

Woah, now I feel completely flattered for real. And if it got you teary means I accomplished what I was aiming for here.

Maybe from an objective POV he wouldn't have the right, but subjectively I think that he should send her the letter or meet her at all. I mean, this whole fact that he has a daughter has to have some meaning at all. And I think that if Clementine knew at one point who her father was/is.

Walt and Michael for me are totally tragic, I agree with that. Michael did screw up indeed, though in retrospective I can see the pattern of his actions. I liked him in S1 and I was liking him again in S4, so that death of his rubbed on me the wrong way. He did screw up, but this solution of never having him and Walt at least solve things didn't sit well with me. I hadn't thought about the whole father perspective when I chose Walt but I guess I did it on instinct or something because I totally agree with what you said there. And I do hope Sawyer and his daughter have a connection in the flesh in canon *sigh*.

Thank you so much, I'm really glad you liked this! And thanks for the lovely fb ♥ ;)
