And this kind of gets at the fundamental issue Eleven has been dealing with his whole incarnation: he's constantly faced with answering the question of Who He Is, of rooting himself in some kind of identity. Which is practically a contradiction of *what* he is, namely a mercurial anarchic force.

It's like Eleven is, at his core, at cross-purposes with himself.

This is mind-blowing and brilliant, as ever. One thing that occurred to me from that last screencap - the laptop here clearly represents the Tardis, as you say, since it combines old (reflection of St Pauls), new (modern technology), borrowed (the Doctor is using it) and blue. Here, it completely obscures Clara's head - which is very interesting as lyricwrites has posited the theory (eagerly adopted by elisi and I) that Clara is a human Tardis....

Oooh, now I like this, Clara-Tardis, because it suggest a religious dimension to that particular juxtaposition. I like that a lot.

The "human TARDIS" idea has been done before, over a decade ago in the 8th Doctor novels, by Lawrence Miles. "Compassion" was her name.
