Tonight
By Janice Williamson

I lie here thinkin'
The boat that keeps my heart beating is sinkin'
In the candle light
I write
Watching all the flickering
Seein' all the people snickering
All my life flashes before my eyes
It leaves me in a suspense of surprise
As rain beats on the room of my dome
I don't think i can call this place home
All my life I've been a freak
People stare at me as if I'm their geek
But they don't know me on the inside
And they don't  know how much they're crushing my pride
All I can do to get away from the nagging
Away from the hate and all the people bragging
I go into my own world to draw
Trying not to be their flaw
Workin for minutes to hours
Putting on paper my imaginary powers
Wishing I can be in this fake lie of a world someday
Wanting to get out of here and far, far away
I just want to be recognized
Instead of hiding in this explicit disguise
Tonight I lie here wondering what life is about
Knowing there's no realistic way out.

lost, old poetry, poem
