And the chopping block winner is...

Well, after much hemming & hawing by both of us, I think it's pretty much a sure thing that Cody & I won't be going to AFest. It's a bleh feeling to miss a con, but we both need to give our wallets a rest. Especially with both our birthdays happening either during or directly after the con. Better that we just rest up for our birthdays, Cameron's wedding, Halloween & Oni.

Especially since out of the two cons left this year, it was either miss AFest or Onicon. I've never been to a Houston con before, so I figured I can catch AFest again next year. Yeah, this years con schedule took a lot out of me. Lots of money, time, effort and emotion. There was a nice rest between Ikki and Akon, but this summer has just left me drained. Next year I'll be skipping Akon for AX, so that should help a bit.

The good news is, now I have more time to work and procrastinate on different costumes. Last night we began the long process of making Hrist. We casted the negative of my forearm. Let me tell you it was a strange experience. I hadn't realized how heavy the plaster was till I was all wrapped up and trying to move my limb. The good news is, if I ever break a bone, Cody could save me a doctors visit by casting it up for me. We still have my calf, ankle, shoulders, chest, neck and head to do as well, before we can begin actual armor fabrication. Hey, I said it was a long process. Maybe during the week he can show me how to make the positives.

I also think I want to re-shuffle my To-Do list as well. Winter Fae has been languishing, but honestly I don't know if my skill level is up to snuff yet. I also have a new joke cosplay that I'd like to take to Oni. Then there's Reki/Washi pair Cody and I have started. They'll need to get started soon too, if they plan on going anywhere this year. So, for now, I just need to make some decisions on what needs to take priority. Thankfully there's time to make those decisions.

I have to be honest, it's like a weight came off when the decision to stay home was reached. Sometimes it's just a relief to not have a deadline of any sort.
