First Day
First Day in my new job and what an absolute fuck up!
I'm most definitely about to be thrown to the lions....
I received my timetable just before lunch and I was in a meeting this afternoon. Kids are back tomorrow morning and I'm walking into the classroom with absolutely no idea who I'm there to support because I've had no time to prepare. Everyone else left as soon as the meeting was over but I stayed and tried to get some work done, but none of the PCs in the SEN Department have SIMS installed so I went back to my old desk, in my old office which won't actually be mine from tomorrow, only to find I've had all my permissions revoked over the summer break and I can no longer access any of the student information I need. I've been trusted with all this information at a lower grade level for the past 18 months so why remove my access now I actually bloody need it? I requested access and have been informed it will be re-instated by tomorrow morning...
However, tomorrow morning I am going into a full day in classrooms, totally blind. I strongly suspect the students who need my support will be apparent and if they're not... Well I guess I'm winging it!
The wins will come. Seeing the students and helping them succeed is the part of the job I signed up for and despite the bad start, I know I'll often leave work with a smile and a huge sense of achievement.
Still want a proper job which pays proper money, with proper holidays though.....
