GM Diet
The Vegetarian Version
********************************************************
Preparation for Days 1 and 2:
Day 1 is Fruits Day, so because I'm only into crunchy fruits, I stocked up on 8 medium sized fuji apples. I regret not buying watermelon, but I can't help it, everytime i look at the goddamned pricetag of a watermelon I just sigh and walk away.
Since Day 2 is Vegetables Day, I stocked up on crunchy veggies like carrots, zucchinis and broccoli.
********************************************************
Day 1:
Woke up at 8:30am and ate a medium sized fuji apple.
Snacked on dried Goji/Wolf berries cos the apple was boring.
I DON'T KNOW WHY I went to slice a lemon to add half into my jug of water and half into my tumbler of black tea. WHY?!
Water on its own is bad enough, now look what I have done... I made my water taste like it's... chao sng (soured). FML.
Don't know how I could forget that I don't like sour stuff. And my tea too, kns.
(Lemon tea with sugar is heavenly, but lemon tea with no sugar is like, chao sng tea. FMLagain.)
I'm glad I forced myself to finish those two repulsive litres of sour liquids. Hate you, lemons.
Ate another apple at 11am. As usual, it was sibeh boring. So, a handful of wolfberries again.
Boiled another litre of water and this time I threw in wolfberries instead, it added a slight tinge of flavour to the water and I get to play while I drink, that is, to try to get some wolfberries into my mouth with each gulp of water.
Thank you mother bear for buying me wolfberries, they're my lifesavers! X♡X♡
I think I've already gone to the bathroom more times that I would usually do on an average week, and it's only half past noon (four hours since I woke up) while I'm writing this. wtf.
Drinking water is torturing AND mafan.
Update 1: 4pm: Ate a zucchini (today I declare zucchini a fruit, and tomorrow I will declare it a vegetable).
Day 2
No more luxury of spending the day at home, so it's off to work and no more 'eating whenever I please'.
It was 4 carrots and 2 zucchinis from 9am till 7pm + 1 litre of water. Chopping up 4 huge fatass carrots into bite size sticks was sooo tiring when you only had apples and zucchinis in your system to burn. Didn't bother to chop up the zucchinis.
Don't ask me how I survived 10 hours on 4 carrots and 2 zucchinis I also don't know. All I know is that I didn't die.
I merely felt woozy from about 4pm and had the occasional tunnel vision haha.
Back in my room at 7pm, I had tomato and lettuce salad, plus 7 mini tomatoes.
I'm not a fan of tomatoes but today I found out that the part of the tomato that is closest to the stem tastes the best! Indescribably yummy!
I wanted to prepare some broccoli to eat too, but I was too lazy.
Too lazy to prepare, too lazy to eat. In the end, didn't eat.

Preparation for Days 3 and 4:
Day 3 is Fruits + Veggies Day, so I got Delaware table grapes and canteloupe/rock melon to add to my fuji apple staple, and cabbages to add one more variety to my (now mundane stash of) zucchinis and carrots.
Day 4 is going to be my kind of HELL!!! I HATE BANANAS!!! EVERYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS HOW MUCH I DETEST BANANAS!
But possibly because of karma for all my past wrongdoings, Day 4 is Banana + (Skim) Milk Day. FFFMMMLLL...
For the first time in my life I walked over to the banana section of the supermarket and bought bananas.
Buying is not the difficult part though, eating those little buggers will be a battle.
And skim milk... I was pacing up and down the chilled milk section, looking for skim milk... In the end I gave up and asked the store assistant and she led me to the coffee and tea aisle and pointed to this:
Sukimu Miruku
Hmm... Skim milk flakes in a packet... Mmkay. Whatever. The instructions say drink skim milk, then skim milk it will be.
Was just surprised that it didn't come in a carton like what I (remember to) have seen in Singapore.

Day 3
It's 1:40pm as I'm updating this, and since I woke up this morning around 9am(?), I have eaten:
1 medium sized fuji apple
1/4 head of cabbage
4 carrots
2 zucchinis
1 small bunch of grapes
I just felt happy eating fruits then veggies, then fruits again then veggies, and clearing my little fridge.
I was sad that the broccoli I bought on Saturday turned mouldy (black spots everywhere), so I'm trying my best to clear all the fruits and veggies in my fridge by tonight.
3pm snack: 1 medium sized fuji apple.
By now I am kinda sick of chomping into apples, so I've started to chop them up.
De-stress with all that chopping too haha.
Dinner: Mini tomatoes, rock melon, and grapes.
Day 4
Today was banana + skim milk day so each meal was fixed: 2 Dole Sweetio bananas + 1 mug of skim milk.
I was dreading this day since I started this diet, fearing the bananas, but the skim milk turned out to be 10x more dreadful than the bananas!
The bananas were not too sweet, in other words, not the usual banana, so I had trouble eating them, but I did not die.
The skim milk was horrid! It smelled really nice, like the Nespray I had when I was a child, but the taste... was... just... i don't even... nvm.
Definitely NOT a day to remember.

Preparation for Days 5-7:
Although by Day 5 I was allowed to eat tomatoes and meat, due to the lack of pots/pans and cooking utensils to prepare a meat dish, I bought brown rice instead. Got 6 medium sized tomatoes to divide between my three meals.
Days 6 and 7 are brown rice + vegetables and brown rice + vegetables + fruit juice days, so I stocked up on heaps of cabbages and spinach. Plus 3 packets of 100% fruit juice to drink throughout my last 3 meals of my diet.
********************************************************
Day 5
Today wasn't too difficult at all, I enjoyed the texture of (sticky brown) rice... it was so yums after so many days of juicy and/or crunchy fruits and veggies. Tomatoes were a little sour and so messy to eat! Don't like tomatoes! I declare plaain water, skim milk and medium sized tomatoes the bane of this diet!
The day passed quickly and the biggest barrier was like I've said, eating the tomatoes and keeping up with the water intake... I HATE WATER.
Day 6
Today felt like Day 5, but now I can replace the tomatoes with cabbages and spinach ^^v VERY Happy.
Ate brown rice + cabbages + spinach for breakfast and exactly the same for lunch, then without the brown rice for dinner.
I nearly caved in to a 72% dark chocolate snack but I managed to control myself.
Winning!
Day 7
Yay! Last day of dieting and I could already feel my mind and body lose control! (haha fail...)
(The entire day was spent thinking about the order of food and snacks I would partake the moment the clock struck midnight...)
So last day was more or less the same as Day 6, except I could drink fruit juices.
BUT I was so clever to have bought a fruit juice mix which contained GRAPEFRUIT JUICE.
Now I remember something I detest more than bananas! Grapefruits and any fruit from the grapefruit family.
What could have been a perfect packet of sweet and refreshing juicy goodness, turned out to be a packet of bitter juice, no thanks to the GRAPEFRUIT.
Am not going to finish the other two packets I bought that were meant for lunch and dinner.

Verdict:
So my verdict on the GM diet? Try it if you think you can make your immediate environment free from temptations.
For me it was a week of no oil, no sugar, no meat (I chose the vegetarian version), no snacks/candy (in general, no processed food), and no liquids except water and skim milk.
Tell your friends and family first so that they can offer you support and be more tactful during the week.
If possible, choose a week that you do not have any events to attend, because it will be rude to pick on your food. (I had to turn down a dinner date with my Japanese family thus upsetting them and now I have to live with the guilt of having chosen to stay on my diet regimen instead).
Make sure your fridge is well stocked with different colored fruits and vegetables of different textures because when you're stuck with eating only fruits or vegetable for the day, trust me, the variety of colors and textures help A LOT.
Set aside some time to wash, chop, store and cook your vegetables. I had to wake up an hour earlier every morning if I did not prepare my vegetables the night before.
Banana and skim milk day was easiest in terms of preparation. Wait. What preparation?
The most difficult part for me was drinking 10-12 glasses of water a day. Each day, I felt like I had drank the amount I would usually drink in a year. So if you LOVE drinking water, this diet should be painless.
Many people who have tried this diet said they had no cravings whatsoever. I had on and off cravings throughout days 5 to 7. but I was either too lazy to go out and spend money to satisfy those cravings, or I curbed them with meditation and chantings of 'It's already day 5 (or 6 or 7), hang in there, hang in there, hang in there.'
The wooziness on days 2 and 4 were quite challenging (especially if you're stuck in a school of rambuctious children) and I had no mood to do a full workout (8 weight training exercises, 14 repetitions, 3 rounds, 40 minutes, burns about 300-400 calories) on those days, just wanted to head back to my room, shower and hit the sack.
On the other days though, I had sufficient energy and drive after dinner to complete my workout.
So if weightloss is your goal, the GM Diet with (at least) alternate days of exercises, should help you lose around 4kg.
If cleansing/detox is your goal, I can totally guarantee that your body will love you for it.
You will notice changes in your body (my jeans used to reach my ankles but now they have slid down and touched the floor wtf).
You will notice changes in your appetite (I still can't figure out whether I didn't want to eat anymore because my appetite was smaller OR I was too lazy to prepare more food to eat haha).
And!
You will notice changes that happen inside your body via what you see coming out from your body *whispers* rainbow poop alert, different color for nearly each day of the week, and clear pee from day 4 hehe..
Now that I know what exactly to expect while on the GM Diet, I will definitely do it again, and make changes to my eating habits as and when I can.
