Ever wonder how pictures like the ones above are made?
Well wonder no more! In this tutorial i will show you how to create this effect without having to fuss with layers.
I can show you how to turn this:
into this:
-In just 6 STEPS.
STEP1: Open your picture file.
STEP2: Click on the Selection tool on the main toolbar
STEP3: Click on the kind of selection tool that best suites your use.
For this particular picture i am using the polygon tool because I personally find it easier to click around the border of my selection. ->
STEP4: Select the area of your picture that you DO NOT want to be black and white (this is the part of the picture that will be colorful in the end)
STEP5: Invert your selection so that everything around your originally selected area has been selected instead.
So click-
(which is located in the popup selection toolbar.)
Next there are two ways which I perfer to do this. You can:
A: Just click the Grayscale button located at the top toolbar.(
)
ORRR-
B: Click the Saturation(-) button to remove saturation until the desired color fade is aquirred. (
)
This way works great if you dont want to get rid of the color completely but you just want to fade it a little.
and YOUR DONE!
now you can either save your picture OR you can continue editing by messing with the shadows, color balance, etc.
