"Hey, kiddo. I was just checking in on you; I didn't hear you come back last night."
Cassie's grateful she's not facing Sam. After a moment she rolls over so she's facing Sam, her innocent face intact. "Oh. Well. I'm sorry about that. I tried to be quiet."
...Something's not right here. "How big's the room?"
"Oh.. Um. I don't know.. But we've been watching movies inbetween each coat. We watched The Princess Bride and The Rocky Horror Picture Show last night."
Sam closes her eyes eversobriefly. Movies alone in an apartment. ..Orlin. But Cassie has more sense than that. Especially after all of this. Well. At least she has an more of an idea of what's going on. "I'm going to work some more. Later you can tell me how you liked the movie."
She gives Cassie a half smile. "You know that your mother and I are both protective of you and we both trust you. But she has an easier time letting you go than I do. I also know that she's your mother and beyond that, I need to let you go and let you make your own decisions. But that doesn't always make it easy."
Cassie gets up and hugs Sam tight. "It's okay, Sam; I'll be okay. He's good."
She hugs her back, and rests her head ontop of Cassie's. "Or so you think."

....
uh huh.
"So how'd it go?"
Reply
"We decided to paint the room red.
Well, he did.
I probably would have voted for blue. Or periwinkle.
But he's the one who has to live there; not me."
Sam eyes her slightly. Is she hesitating? Almost studdering.
Huh.
"Oh?"
"Oh. Um. Yeah. I don't know if we're going to finish painting the rest today or not."

Sam turns around. "mm?"
"Are you still thinking about going back to the SGC?"
She studies her. "I was."
"Was?"
"I probably still will."
Cassie tilts her head and gives her a curious look. "What's happened?"

I know he is."
Sam sighs silently and nods.
"If you trust him."
She kisses Cassie's forehead.
"Just be careful."
"I promise."
