Wow. It's October!

Holy Hell.. how did it get here so fast? I'm really, really excited for this, you see. Why? Because my older sister, April, will be flying in with her family and arriving on the 20th of THIS MONTH! Way back when we planned this, at the beginning of April (on her birthday, actually,) it seemed like such a long time away. And now? in only 19 days, I'll be able to give my big sister a hug for the first time in over 5 years. Yes, it's been that long since my other sister and I have seen her. Because she moved to Alaska. *grrrs* But it's all good,.. she's coming home for a visit, and bringing her boys with her. I can't wait to get them under my roof, and I hope that they have a fantastic time here. I know my boys are going to be thrilled to share their room with their cousins for a little bit, and they'll all get to go trick-or-treating together.
Of course, this means that I really need to haul ass and get my house in order before then, but ah well... it's worth it for that. I love my sisters, both of them, very very much, and I am indescribably excited to know that I have a chance of seeing my parents, my sisters, my children, and my nephews, all in one place. I want a picture of that so very badly. We don't have a picture of everyone in the "immediate" family all together. When she moved, her younger son was only a month old, and two of my kids hadn't even been born yet. (Okay, okay, so my youngest is coming in march, but it will be "there", just internal.)

Anyway... if anyone has any ideas for what I can do for my husband to thank him, let me know. He gave up all of his flying miles (75,000) to help them come out. When what he really wanted was for us to go there, since we've never been. It amazes me that he was selfless enough to give up the chance for us to visit Alaska for who knows how many years (it took him a long time to get those miles), so that my sister's family could come here instead. But this way, everyone in our family will get to see them, and the kids will be able to visit all the places here that the oldest one probably only barely remembers. It means a lot to my parents and, I'm sure, the rest of the family, that they'll be able to see them, too,.. and it does to me, too. I knew I married a really great guy,.. but he continues to prove to me just /how/ great. I love him so so so so so much.

On an entirely different note, the electric company called yesterday. There's a big cherry tree on the edge of our property on the other street that is just outside the power lines, and they rub up on it. Apparently, when it gets windy, this rubbing gets bad, and the power company wants to cut down the tree. They cut it, chip up the brush, and leave the tree for us. (Or whoever gets it first, but it SHOULD be ours.) So, I said yes, of course, ( who doesn't like free firewood?), and took a look at the tree this morning. It's BIG. Like.. seriously.. there's several weeks of wood on it. It's also standing in a thick bed of poison ivy, and has a 20+ foot tall poison ivy vine growing up the side of it, apparently in prime health. Dude. Better them cutting it than me. Meanwhile, I'll be asking Dave to get me some throwaway gloves for when I have to help move Mr. Tree. I'm very allergic to that stuff. Ugh.
