So I took some time off today and went to see Prince Caspian. Whoa, the pretty. Caspian is absolutely sex on a stick and if I were Susan... anyway. Also Edmund is surprisingly cool. And I realized as I was watching the movie that I think I haven't actually read the book. I thought for sure I'd read Caspian. Perhaps I'm just remembering The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Reepicheep, as expected, was made of frickin' WIN. Though I'm not sure I would have recognized Eddie Izzard's voice if I hadn't known to be listening for it.
And, 'cause it bugs me:
Why couldn't Susan have stayed with Caspian? The last time they were there they lived and grew up and then they returned and no time had passed. Why couldn't Susan have stayed and had a life in Narnia and then, maybe once she's old and just as she's dying, returned to England? Grr. No way in hell would I have walked through that tree. It's even worse because Susan is the one who _doesn't_ come back for The Last Battle. This really was her last time in Narnia.
And speaking of the Last Battle, I found the business with the train station rather ominous. I wonder if Lewis meant that to be foreshadowing?
Now, once upon a time, I read a really fantastic bit of fanfiction centered on Susan after The Last Battle. I can't remember the title or the author or even where I read it. But she turns into some philanthropist socialite... I know it's vague but I can't remember any other details. Ring any bells for anyone?
