Room 239/240: Morning

Janet was highly embarrassed.

Staying buried underneath her blankets for the rest of the day was conceivably an option.

After all, she'd woken up as a child on Saturday, gone and jumped on the bed with Liz, and gotten into a screaming fight with Marty over whether boys or girls actually had cooties

"It's Jack. No one knows more embarrassing stories about him than Daniel, Sam, or Teal'c. Or me, for that matter. But I can't imagine Daniel would do something like that to you." Janet was, perhaps, overestimating Daniel's level of tact in the face of important discoveries. "Only for the summer. And at least there's e-mail and the phone."

"I guess," Elizabeth said, not convinced. "Exactly. At least you'll know where he is. And he should be pretty safe. It's not as if he's disappearing into the Congo, or touring a war zone."

"I'm sure he'd be considerate," said Janet, who really wasn't all that sure. "Are you trying to get me worried for him, Liz?"

"Hmmm," Elizabeth was still skeptical. "I said he wasn't going to do those things! Various exes of mine have had to deal with that. Or, not deal."

[janet_fraiser]

"Yes, well, it is a difficult thing to deal with," said Janet. "I think you've just hit on one of the many reasons I didn't date much. At least you and Daniel can deal with that sort of thing slightly better."

"If my defense, if you tell someone that you primarily work as a diplomat for the UN, you'd think that they'd realize that you travelled. A lot," Elizabeth nodded. She ducked her head. "I was about to try and tell you not to worry again. But seriously. I'm sure the summer will fly by and it'll be a new semester and he'll be back being an idiot in this country again."

"I wasn't criticizing you. I'm a doctor with the military who specializes in rare and exotic diseases. My life before I was assigned to the SGC wasn't constantly lived in a laboratory." She smiled at Liz. "Of course I'm going to worry. Daniel off by himself and unsupervised is the definition of trouble. But he'll be back." He'd better be.

"That is very true," Elizabeth nodded. She giggled. "If you that worried, write to the excavation leader?" she joked.

"Who's a friend of his from college?" asked Janet, laughing and shaking her head. "On the other hand, maybe she'd tease him mercilessly all summer."

Elizabeth snickered. "Is that who's running it then? It might be worth it for that..."

[janet_fraiser]

"I was thinking just the same thing," said Janet. "Maybe you and Sam could help me compose the letter?"

"Absolutely," Elizabeth's grin was more than slightly evil. "I'm sure Sam would be delighted to offer her help as well."

"If, that is, she doesn't plan to hide in her room for the rest of her natural life," said Janet. "That's sounding very appealing. But let's see. How would the letter start out? 'Dear Whoever You Are: Knowing Dr. Jackson's long-standing inclination towards inadvertent catastrophe..."

"I'm sure we could intice her out with the prospect of embarrassing Daniel," Elizabeth grinned. "We feel it is our duty to inform you of such matters, so that you might be properly prepared to cope with... With?"

[janet_fraiser]

"That is an enticement, yes," said Janet, snickering. "With sudden, random death, Ascension, or insanity." She paused. "We're going to have to write the non-classified version with Sam."

"And if that doesn't work? Alcohol," Elizabeth nodded seriously, before grinning again. "We are. Maybe we should suggest a leash so he doesn't wander off too far?"
