Just got off the phone with my mother; Dad has two new hips and is doing fine, if annoyed that he can't move around and get comfortable. She was at work until they called to say he was out of surgery, then went and hung out by his bedside reading while he occasionally woke up enough to ask what time it was, until he was like, dude, you should go home, I'm just sleeping here. Apparently friends and relatives have showered dvd sets of tv shows on them for the recovery period; they have Doctor Who (Nine) and Slings and Arrows and Numb3rs (at least, she thought it was Numb3rs because there was a number on the cover? Which I'm not convinced is right, but I can't think what it would be) and I forget what else. We run with geeky crowds in our family; I gave a few more suggestions of shows to request from the library/netflix/extended family. My own tv mainlining for the week has been Entourage - over the last four days I somehow went from "this is entertaining and watchable" to clapping hands in glee several times an episode.
In other news, I checked out some early Dolly Parton from the library for driving to work (but not for driving home; it turns out I only like her in the morning). Which means that I had to stop myself from whistling Dolly Parton at work all day. It's a problem. Anyway, I think it's time for another episode of Entourage. 'night!
