...
So the deadline for the Paperlegends big bang was yesterday. Last weekend I had Noble Goals of writing enough every day to at least get to 20k to submit.
That ... did not happen.
Work is work but it is busy at the moment. What I didn't count on, however, was my son getting sick. I thought, at first, he just had a bad cold and possibly an ear infection because that's usually how he rolls.
We kept him home from school from Wednesday and luckily now, it's school holidays because he doesn't have a cold. Oh, no nothing so simple
I got worried today because he was complaining about how his stomach hurt when he coughs, and he's barey eaten since Wednesday.
So I pledged half a kidney, and we took him to the after-hours doctor today (seriously $60 for a 10-minute consult. I knew I should have taken him yesterday - normally healthcare here is free for under-6s) and it turns out he has strep throat and scarlet fever.
Which explains the pain because his lymph nodes are swollen, and the fact he's been off his oats and waking up in the middle of the night wanting to get into bed with me. Which is fine, but it's not so great for the writing.
Thanks to paperpushers, I got about 580 words written today, and I'm up to 13.5k which I think is going to have to be my rough draft.
I have the brain capacity of an onion that's been bounced down a flight of stairs. All I've been doing this week apart from work and taking care of Patrick is watching S4 of SPN and playing angry birds. And sometimes even THAT'S beyond me.
This week will be better. Good god, it has to. I'm going to submit my draft tomorrow and then cross my fingers and try not to spit in the eye of the universe.
Er, again.
