The conference that I'm attending before classes doesn't start until Wednesday. I came early because (1) I had to rent the apartment for the whole month anyway, (2) The airline ticket was cheaper to come on the weekend, and(3) I knew that I would have more reading to do and figured it would be easier to complete it here than at home - where I'm tempted to spend my time with grandchildren, etc. So I've spent today reading a book assigned for my music class. The book is _The Mozart Effect: Tapping the Power of Music to Heal the Body, Strengthen the Mind, and Unlock the Creative Spirit_ by Don Campbell. It's full of well-documented research which confirms for me much that my mind and body knows intuitively about music. While I was reading, though, I felt that I should become fully immersed by listening to Mozart. I have no stereo or CD player here and the radio seemed to be of no use in this effort. But then there's the INTERNET!! So, my trusty laptop found a radio station on my Real One Player that provided uninterrupted Mozart 24 hours a day. So now my body has been healed, my mind has been strengthened, and my creative spirit has been unlocked. NOW, I feel like I need to turn off the Mozart and unleash some of this "creative spirit" by dancing. I did bring a Rod Stewart "Great American Songbook" CD. There's a picture of him on the back dancing with a woman with long blond hair. You can't see her face in the picture so maybe I'll just pretend it's me and "conjure" him up for a dance. I'll put his CD into my trusty laptop. Let's see -- Track #6 seems appropriate. It's called - "Until the Real Thing Comes Along."
Peace and Smooth Dancing to you all!
