September 11th Ramblings - Rembering 9-11, Being thankful and others

Remembering
Firstly, my thoughts are with everyone in America and other places today who lost loved ones nine years ago , and those who were affected by it.
You can remember where you were, when signifcant events happen. I was too young to remember John Lennon dying, but I remember vividly where I was where I was when Diana, Princess of Wales died. In a hospital ward, after collapsing at home - so being under observation for a few days. I remember reading a article about her only the night before, and how all the nurses and doctors were running towards the television room. To this day we don't know why I collapsed
I also remember where I was when 9-11 happened. I was at my local library, on the internet, seeming no computer at home. As I sat there. people started coming into the library, saying that "something" had happened in America. As the afternoon drew on, more details came through. Luckily we knew absolutely no-one in America, but I felt so sorry for the people over there. Selfishly, I was concerned for myself, as me and Mum were going to London with a aunt and a friend to see "My Fair Lady", my first time in London, about two weeks later. I was worried that the coach company we were going with would cancel the trip, seeming there would be a upsurge of "copycat" incidents etc in the following weeks. Selfish, yes, it didn't compare to anything others were going through involved in 9-11. Eventually, the trip to London went ahead and a good time was had by all.

Being thankful
For those who have followed my blog, they will probably remember the worrying time, last September (a year ago give or take a few days) when seven-week old great-nephew Elliot was diagnosed with menegitis. We were all so worried for him - if my sister and Elliot's mum hadn't taken him to the doctors right that moment, just another hour, and it could have been so so different. He went for a "development test" a few days ago and he seems absolutely fine. He'll have a "proper check" at the hospital at the end of this month - of course, I'll keep everyone updated. Me and our family will always remember the good thoughts of my "virtual friends" during that time.

And finally
Things to make you smile
Tonight is "The Last Night of the Proms" on the BBC. I'm not really a lover of classical music, but the Last Night is always fun, with people dressing up, and generally having a good time. My favourite part of the concert is always the "Sea shanty medley"
