Having moved our stuff into the nicely sized room at the top of the stairs we proceeded to relax and sleep. Our first night in our new house went without any kind of glitz, glamour, or terror.
It was not until the third day did I realize that all of the housemates smoke pot. They don’t smoke a little, they smoke a lot. I don’t drink, smoke, or do any drugs anymore. I mean, not really. I swore off mind altering substances until I am at least twenty-eight.
So here I am in this fucking amazing house that has to be worth at least a million or more dollars, with a grip load of stoners. Talk about ironic. Besides my girlfriend and I, there are a total of six people living with together in one house.
Jimmy is slim, wears glasses and a constant smile. Jimmy’s about nineteen and he is a gamer geek, and yet knows little to nothing about computers. He is perpetually stoned to the point that he seems a little slow, but I am confident it really is just the pot. The guy is nice enough to have any of his flaws overlooked. He kind of reminds me of a more blissful or innocent version of myself at his age.
Brad lives in the same room as Jimmy. Brad is that rare one two punch of drunk and stoner. He seems amiable, but also seems to have what my friend Sean refers to as an “Ozzy shamble”. His cross cropped Spartan haircut is blond and always seems in a state of disarray, like he just woke up from a nap. Most of the time by mid-late evening Brad is tanked enough to seems almost incoherent.
Adam is the house papa so to speak. Maybe stepfather would be a better term? He is a Jewish man, whatever that means, who looks nothing like a stereotypical Jew. He is huge, somewhere over six feet, and he weighs what appears to be over two hundred and eighty pounds. Oddly enough this massive mountain of a man is a counselor at a children’s camp. We give our rent checks to this dude, we put our questions and concerns to him, he is kind of like as I said, the house papa.
Ben is a construction worker who happens to install solar panels. Somehow he reminds me of a larger, less charming, and less fun version of my friend Shane Holland. He lives in a tiny room that used to be a nook, or office off of the kitchenette. He seems pretty calm and collected, and if I had time I think I would like to get the know him. I have heard talk that he is moving, something about a disagreement with the previous house leader/papa Sean.
Cynthia/Cindy? Fuck, I don’t know. She is blond and is a teacher or massage therapist or both. She lives upstairs with us and shares a bathroom with Adam. I am not sure what to think of her, she seems nice. She is a little bit thick, and has a strangely attractive face covered with freckles. She also keeps and old dog named tabby with her at all times.
Then there is Shannon, she lives downstairs near the laundry room. She has a bathroom that is pretty much hers, and lives in a secluded section of the house that gets less foot traffic than most of it (Although now with the addition of the Wii in the laundry room, that seems to be changing). Shannon is a pretty girl with a nice body, and good sense of humor. I think I like her best out of the housemates, although that might be out of bias based on the fact that I get along better with girls, and that I find it easier to forgive attractive people of their faults. (God I am a prick)
Sean is a rugby player. At least that seems to be how he sees himself. He plays rugby, smokes weed and has a high opinion of himself. He looks like your typical San Juan Ridge hippy fuck, except he is in good physical shape. I think he would be a nice guy if had a sense of humor, and didn’t live on top of such a high horse. He is the transitioning house leader; I also think he may be the lease holder. The guy has the aura of a drug dealer who has never been caught, that weird unshakable machismo that comes with doing something highly illegal. He also owns a hug Rhodesian ridgeback named Bogie. He’s not a bad guy; I just feel some tension between our personalities. He actually reminds me a lot of my friend Ryan Cirino.
I’m not sure what to think about all this shit, but it seems to be going well…
