How wonderful to be able to see the stage play! I imagine it will be emotional, but removed. You'll have to tell me how both you and your daughter react.

I cried a lot in War Horse, not all during the places you'd think. The plowing, for instance. I cried like a baby during that scene. And when the boy got his horse back at the end. And when they were racing across the horizon, finally home.

Of course I cried through all of the war stuff ~ I thought the loss of Captain Nicholls (that fabulous Hiddleston fellow) was particularly poignant. So glad we didn't see him blown to bits off the back of the galloping Joey.

It was the courage of Joey and his friendship with Topthorn that broke my heart, as was intended. *shakes little fists at Spielberg* Unlike everyone else I have talked to, I found the passing of Topthorn to be somewhat comforting, as he had the kind German and his stalwart friend, Joey, at his side at the end. It was small comfort, but it's all I had to cling to.

Of course the whole panic run through the front lines, the barbed wire horror and the ultimate reunion had me all a'flood, but I held in my one sob until that reunion. So embarrassing, but there were lots of sniffles around me.

I went on opening day --- Christmas Day --- thinking the theater would be empty. Joke's on me. It was packed. No privacy for any of our grief.

Now you've repaid the ear-talking-off. Isn't that what sistahs are for??? :D
